How it Works
Veneers are made out of porcelain and are designed to replace the front chewing surfaces of your teeth. A small amount of enamel will be removed to ensure that your veneers fit perfectly, then they will be bonded to your teeth permanently. By covering up the fronts surfaces of your teeth, veneers can treat almost any cosmetic dental issue. They’re commonly used to treat slightly-crooked teeth, discolored and severely stained teeth, misshapen and uneven teeth, and gaps.
Versatile and Convenient
Benefits of Veneers
Veneers are very durable and they typically last at least 10-15 years with proper care. Since porcelain looks and feels similar to tooth enamel, they will blend in perfectly with the rest of your smile. The porcelain material will be chosen to match the color of your natural teeth, ensuring a seamless look.
The process of getting veneers placed is also fast, simple, and minimally-invasive. You can completely transform your smile in just two appointments over a period of a few weeks. Veneers also do not require any special care. You can simply brush and floss normally, and continue to see Dr. Winslow for a teeth cleaning and oral exam every six months.
What to Expect
The Veneer Treatment Process
The veneer treatment process is split into two stages. At your first appointment, your teeth will be prepared for veneer placement. Dr. Winslow will begin by cleaning your teeth and numbing the treatment area. You can also be sedated for your treatment if you prefer.
Then, Dr. Winslow will remove a thin layer (about 0.5mm in thickness) from each tooth that is receiving a veneer. This is done to ensure that the veneers fit perfectly without adding bulk to each of your teeth. Once your teeth have been prepared, Dr. Winslow will take digital impressions. These will be sent to a lab, where your veneers will be built.
It takes about 2-3 weeks for your veneers to be made. In the meantime, you will be sent home with a set of temporary veneers. Once your veneers have been crafted and sent to our office, you’ll come in for your final appointment. Dr. Winslow will clean your teeth and check the veneers to make sure they fit properly. Then, your veneers will be bonded into place, buffed, and polished.
